1. Calibrate your screen
Screens differ in size, so the tool needs to know how big a millimetre is on yours. Choose a method:
Stand a bank card upright against the screen, then drag the slider until the gold lines line up with the card's long edges.
Hold a ruler against the red line and measure its length in millimetres. Enter what you see.
Enter the length you measured, in millimetres (10–300).
Do not zoom the page after calibrating. If you do, the tool will ask you to recalibrate.
2. Match your ring
Lay a ring that fits the finger flat on the screen. Adjust until the gold circle touches the inner edge of the ring all the way around.
Dashed rings show one size smaller and one size larger.
Measure my finger
No ring to compare? Wrap a strip of paper or thread snugly around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length. Enter it below.
Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are largest, and make sure the ring can slide over the knuckle.
Print a gauge
Print a sheet of life-size circles for US sizes 3 to 13, then lay a ring on top to find the circle that touches its inner edge. It works with no screen calibration.
- Click Print gauge.
- Set the scale to 100% / Actual size, not "Fit to page".
- Check that a bank card fits the dashed box on the sheet exactly. If it does not, the print scale is wrong.

How to measure ring size at home
Method 1: match an existing ring
The most accurate home method. Calibrate your screen, lay a ring that fits the right finger flat on the display, and adjust the circle until it touches the inner edge of the ring.
Method 2: measure your finger
- Cut a strip of paper about 10 cm long and 5 mm wide.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger.
- Mark where the end overlaps.
- Measure from the end to the mark in millimetres.
- Enter that number as your circumference in the Measure my finger tab.
Method 3: print a gauge
Print the life-size gauge at 100% scale and place a ring over the circles. Confirm the scale with a bank card first.
Tips for an accurate size
- Measure at the end of the day or when your hands are warm. Fingers are smallest in the cold and in the morning.
- Measure the finger the ring will go on. The dominant hand is often half to one size larger.
- The ring must slide over the knuckle and still feel snug at the base of the finger.
- Measure two or three times on different days and take the most common result.
- If you land between sizes, pick the larger one.
Band width and ring size
A wider band covers more of the finger and feels tighter than a thin one in the same size.
| Band width | Size adjustment |
|---|---|
| Under 3 mm (narrow) | None |
| 3–5 mm (standard) | None |
| 6–8 mm (wide) | Add half a size |
| 9 mm and wider | Add a full size |

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my ring size online?
Calibrate the sizer with a credit card, then place a ring that already fits over the on-screen circle and adjust until the circle touches the inner edge of the ring all the way around. No ring? Use the Measure my finger tab: wrap a strip of paper around the finger, mark the overlap, measure the length in millimetres and enter it as your circumference.
Why do I need to calibrate my screen?
Screens differ in physical size and pixel density, so the same image is larger on a tablet than a phone. Calibration measures how many real millimetres your screen shows, so the circle is rendered at true life size on your device.
How do I calibrate with a credit card?
Hold any standard bank card upright against the screen and drag the slider until the two gold lines line up with the card's long edges. Standard cards are 53.98 mm wide, which gives the tool your exact pixels-per-millimetre. Do not zoom the page afterwards.
What is the average ring size for women and men?
The most common women's ring size in the US is 6 and the most common men's size is 9 to 10. If you are buying a surprise gift and cannot measure, these are the safest starting points, and most jewellers can resize.
What if my ring size falls between two sizes?
Choose the larger size. Fingers swell in heat and during the day, and a slightly loose ring is more comfortable and easier to resize smaller than a tight one.
Does the width of the ring band matter?
Yes. Wide bands cover more of the finger and feel tighter. As a guide, add half a size for bands 6 to 8 mm wide and a full size for bands 9 mm or wider. Bands under 5 mm need no adjustment.
How do I convert US ring size to UK or EU size?
The EU (ISO) size is the inner circumference in millimetres, for example US 7 is 54.4 mm, which is EU 54. UK sizes are letters: US 6 is L, US 7 is N, US 8 is P and US 9 is R. UK letters vary slightly between manufacturers, so confirm with the jeweller for important pieces.
How accurate is an online ring sizer?
With careful calibration and a ring held flat against the screen, results are typically within a quarter size, which is accurate enough for most purchases. For valuable pieces, confirm the size with a jeweller.
